Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy Friday. Spring break is just around the corner! We are hoping that these milder temperatures are here to stay and that the cold and snow are gone for good!
With spring break three short weeks away, thinking about the 2018-2019 school year is not that far off! The classroom placement process is one of our most important tasks to prepare for the coming year. Classroom teachers, specials teachers, support staff, and office staff are collaborating to determine classroom placements for Adler Park students for the 2018-2019 school year. Teachers will spend a significant amount of time considering students’ academic and social development and their learning styles when generating class lists. Throughout this process, our goal is to place students in the best possible learning environment. We try to build classes that are balanced in terms of learning needs and styles, gender, emotional and social development, academic achievement, and behavior. As parents, please feel free to offer insight, share your perspective, or describe your child’s academic and/or social emotional needs in writing (Attn: Dr. Bongle) on or before Friday, March 23rd, 2018.
Finally, PARCC Testing will begin at Adler Park on April 9th and will continue though April 13th. Only students in grades 3 – 5 will participate in the PARCC assessment. Fifth grade students will participate in the Illinois Science Assessment on April 17th. Parents often ask how they can prepare their children for testing. Here is a short list:

- Making sure that your child attends school on the days of testing.
- Arrive at school on time the days of testing.
- Ensuring he/she gets a good nights sleep the night before testing.
- Providing breakfast on the mornings of testing.
- Reminding him/her to ask the teacher questions if they do not understand the directions.
- Letting him/her know that you have confidence in his/her ability to do his/her best.
- Advising him/her not to worry about the test and to do the best he/she can.
