Please try to have students to school by 8:05 each morning. We are seeing a large increase in our tardies this Spring. We are also concerned at the number of drop offs in front of the school. PLEASE drop in the back. Our front parking lot is not designed for a lot of cars dropping off at the same time and students' safety is at risk. The safest place to drop your child is in the back of the school and you can do that by entering by the Adler pool. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP with this through the end of the school year.
So hard to believe, but it's time to share the end of the year checkout dates. The last opportunity for students to check out will be the week of May 14 with all books and magazines due on Friday, May 25. We really appreciate your help in making sure all materials are returned on time!
All Birthday Book forms have been distributed for the school year. If you are still interested in ordering, the due date will be April 30 to make sure all students have time to read and enjoy their birthday book before the May 25due date. You may order from this Amazon wish list, or let me know if you need another paper form. Adler's readers are so grateful to have all of these new books added to our collection each year through your generosity. We are embarking upon a sewing project in the Design Lab and are in need of volunteers. Please email Ms. Carr ([email protected]) if you have or are willing to learn some basic sewing skills and help students learn how to use our new sewing machines to make a bookmark out of fabric. Thank you so much for your support of the library this and every year! Erin Carr, Learning Center Director Dear Parents,
Adler will be celebrating Earth Day by having a Waste-Free lunch on Tuesday, April 24th. Only children bringing in a lunch from home can participate. This is how it works: Each item of the student’s lunch receives a score: -1 point for any trash. 0 points for recyclable, 1 point for reusable, and 2 points for natural foods in their own compostable wrapper (oranges, grapes, apples). We will score each lunch brought from home and give it a score. The class that has the best over all score will be announced at the end of the day and receive an extra recess! Parents may wonder why zero points are given for recyclables and the reason is the cost associated with collecting and processing the recyclables. Children that have hot lunch that day can recycle their milk containers and clean cardboard trays, and of course reuse their plastic tray! Thank you, Ms. Hutchinson Adler School Nurse District 70 Spring Orchestra Concert
